April Ross

April Ross is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball players who have won medals in more than one Olympics. Ross will compete in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic medal with Alix Klineman, who is a first-time Olympian. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic gold medal. At 39, it could be her last opportunity to achieve it. Still confident nevertheless. Ross said on NBC Boston: "If we try our best, and even playing well, I think we could be able to win gold." In addition, I'll try the chance to have chance. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents and sister were residents in the area. She went on to compete in many sports in Newport Harbor High School. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball as well as basketball, running and track. In the last sport she stood out. When she played in her time at the high school level in her university bio, she was an outside-hitter, middle-blocker and setter. In recognition of her work she was awarded the 1999 Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her due to her volleyball skills. Ross and Klineman might have begun working together at the beginning of 2017, but Ross had already been a seasoned player at the beach before they teamed up. She has won numerous tournaments, including one with an iconic volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 through 2013. Kessy's teammate Ross, who won the world title with Kessy in 2009, was also an important player on the world stage. The 2012 Olympic Games, they won the gold medal. They were defeated for the gold medal by the legendary group comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. Both went on to win the bronze medal in beach volleyball in the Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a student athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning her pro career. She was a player in high school, as well as some years before she hit the beach as a professional. Her career was a success in the NCAA tournament. She was a All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2000 as a young freshman. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans to make it to the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she experienced a devastating personal setback, but she was able to repeat as an All-American. Over the course of her final two seasons she led the Trojans up to the summit and took home consecutive national championships. For her part, she cemented her place in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award is given to the top female college volleyball players across the nation. Ross studied at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross never saw her daughter reach the top of beach volleyball. Ross lost her mom to cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She continues to cherish her late parent. Margie at the beach as well as in her everyday life, inspires her.
